Raft, a short story pulled from my memoir featured in Volume 4: Mother. “I wake up in the middle of the night and I am on a raft in the middle of the ocean,” I would begin. As a child I created this game, raft, that I would play alone before I went to sleep. Creating my little place of pure safety in a world of chaos. When I became a mother I played this with my daughters and one night it felt life saving in a very real way.
